Fall Report, D to G (part 3)

I know that everybody is frenetic these days covering the spring/summer shows happening all over the world. However, I feel that it is not too late to cover the fall shows, since regular people are only now interested in what the designers have proposed for this season. Also, I have been trying to cover as many designers as possible, systematically (alphabetically, since this is the theme of the blog), talking about them, not only showing the photos. Therefore, I hope you are still interested in the next parts which I will be publishing these days and I hope you enjoy them and find them useful.

Derek Lam has created for the F/W 2010 collection some great combo shoes: I wouldn't know how to label them properly since the sole is not exactly wedgy, but not exactly high-heeled either. This aside, the boots are very cool and wearable. In nude, black or electric blue, leather, suede and pony hair - this seasons's everyone's favourite - these shoes are meant for a woman who cherishes her comfort and her style at the same time.

Domenico and Stefano for D&G have made skying the most stylish activity for this seasion. I bet that every girl out there wants to learn how to sky so she would be able to wear these amazing outfits the designers have created. I love the printed leg warmers and I gladly wear them everywhere, not only at a sky resort. The very furry boots are not exactly my cup of tea, as I said previously about the Chanel boots.

Diane von Furstenberg's shoes for this season are very feminine and classic in a modern way. The designer has combined different fabrics - leather, satin, suede, mesh - and also different styling techniques, which gives the modern effect to the classic shoes. The classic shapes - pumps and booties - are re-invented  by elements like the semi-platform which does not sustain the entire shoe, the cut of the shoe-booties and the lace-up style.

Diesel is the master of the army boots for this season. Clean and simple, very manly and with a vintage look, these boots are a great example of this trend. The label also features some embellished classic booties.

For their Dolce and Gabbana collection, Stefano and Domenico have created the perfect shoes for a sexy woman. With lace details, the collection made of pumps, ankle boots and mary-janes comes mainly in black - the designers' favourite colour. They tell the story of an Italian sexy confident woman who enjoys her shoes and her womanhood.
I wouldn't have expected them to do this, but the two designers have embraced for this collection the sock trend - a sign that this is deffinitely the season of the socks.

Donna Karan has created for this season some classic booties, nothing spectacular, nothing out of the ordinary. In grey or black, the shoes feature a  high stiletto heel and some block-cut leather or spotted leather, just to make the shoes not so plain. However, they wouldn't be my choice.

Elie Saab, on the other hand, has created the most sexy heels of the season. With a very high stiletto heel,  these pointy pumps are incredibly sexy and sleek. Meant for a woman in charge of her personality and sensuality, these shoes can easily become a fetish in the feet of the right woman. What I like most about them is the tight socks and the lace print on some of the shoes. These features make the shoes very feminine and matronly at the same time, giving them character and power. The buckles and the wrapped straps on some of the shoes make me think of bondage, which completes the sexuality vibe of the shoes.

The Erdem shoes might just be the most coveted shoes of the season. Created by master Nicholas Kirkwood, these hiking boots are not only very cool, but also comfy. What is even better is that they gain the interest of a different range of women: the ones that are not that interested in high heels, but preffer comfort over it. Well, guess what: with the chunky heel, the platform and the lace up style, these babies are not only cool, but also practical.  Available in differently coloured flower prints or no print at all, everyone should be able to pick a favourite. Wear them with socks (this trend has survived from last season, hooray!) and you'll be a very cool lady.
Needless to say that every retailer such as H&M, Zara, Topshop ecc. will be creating their own versions of this shoe.

Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi has brought on the catwalk a funky combination of rain bots and sneakers. In grey, black, dark blue and some more vivid colours like orange and yellow, the collection features lace-up ankle boots with chunky heels and ankle wrap pumps. I love the orange heels of some of the shoes - makes them pop up in the immensity of black and brown autumn shoes. However, I'm not exactly a fan of the sneaker front, it ruins it for me.

Next up is a brilliant designer who has created the most amazing hiking boots out there. I'm talking about John Galliano, of course. I loved every single piece of this season's collection, but I picked for this short review only the ones I find mind blowing. What Galliano has done is dare: he took the Dr. Martens boot look and put it on the sleekest and highest stiletto heel - a combination that few would dare. Ankle length or mid length, these shoes are featured in some amazing colours: dusty nude, dark green, tan, black, white. My favourite are, of course, the pink ones: cute, cool and playful.

Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy has mastered and updated the 19th century victorian boots. In a wide range of fabric and finishes, such as leather, grey flannel, velvet, satin or beads these boots pay a tribute to  shoe fashion history in a modern way. They are not only very wearable, but also very feminine and classy, in a cute way. I really appreciate the wide range of fabrics that the designer has used, this makes the collection very accessible and generous to every woman's prefference or adaptable to every occasion.

Frida Giannini for Gucci has subscribed to the return to the classics, like every Italian girl, I might add. Sexy nude thigh highs in suede or in snakeskin, with sky high heels and slim platforms, these shoes are classic to the point you would wear them for ages to come. The T-strap sandals worn with lace-like tights are very sexy and girly at the same time and I absolutely adore them.
